Rainwater harvesting (RWH) is the collection and storage of rain rather than runoff. Rainwater is collected from a surface-like surface and diverted into a reservoir, basin, deep pit (well, shaft, or borehole), aquifer, or seepage pit, so that it percolates and recovers groundwater.
It reduces soil erosion and flood risk by collecting rainwater and reducing rainwater runoff to prevent urban flooding. Most buildings that use rainwater harvesting systems have a built-in rooftop catchment area that has the ability to collect large amounts of water in the event of rain.
Rainwater harvesting is the collection and storage of rainwater that flows from rooftops, gardens, roads, open spaces, etc. This runoff can be stored or recharged in groundwater.
